While the claws are able to cut through most substances, they are fragile and so are meant more for injecting the poison into a target or cutting through security devices or barriers. Inside each finger is a retractable molecular stiletto coated in the deadly poison known as Synox. The most distinguishing weapon of the Terror Troopers are the mechanical claws that cover each hand. Like Storm Commandos, Terror Trooper armor is coated in Reflec and equipped with a sound-dampening field, making them nearly impossible to detect through conventional means. The original Terror Troopers were equipped with cloaking devices, but as resources for them dried up, the armor for the new generation of Terror Troopers was revamped. They have been conditioned to be in peak physical condition and are noted for their incredible agility, which allows them to dodge most attacks. To maximize on stealth, Terror Troopers focus on infiltration and forgo conventional projectile weapons, primarily relying instead on melee and hand-to-hand attacks. The Terror Troopers have remained active after the war and are one of the better kept secrets of the Imperial Military. They found use during the following Xen'Chi War, eliminating Xen'Chi commanders and allowing more conventional Imperial forces to take advantage of the resulting discord.
While Damascus fell at the Battle of Corellia roughly a year after the start of the project, the Terror Troopers didn't die with him and continued to be developed by Regent Grand Admiral Thrawn as dedicated assassins that could be used to quietly remove enemies of the Empire. The project was revived more than a decade later with the rise of Emperor Damascus, who based the new Terror Troopers on the planet Byss. The troopers never made it past the testing stage and the project itself was scrapped when the headquarters was lost with the destruction of Timira City during the Galactic Civil War.
In concept they were meant to be soldier-assassins and embodied the Empire's credo of ruling through fear of force rather than force itself, with armor designed to resemble the demons of a thousand civilizations and a helmet purposefully created in the visage of the fearsome General Grievous.
Terror Troopers were originally the brainchild of Darth Vader a prototypical group whose training, equipment, and armament were developed on Kamino.
